Palmerston North annual Formation for family group leaders and members was held on Sunday April 14th at St Mary’s hall in Palmerston North. The day was facilitated by Fr Kevin Hennessy CP from Melbourne.
Fr Kevin’s sessions are always delivered with humour and a sense of meeting each group where they are at. We pondered, who am I? How do I know myself? It is as others see me? And in relation to family groups how will others get to know me?
Practical sessions in small groups where we could each reveal as much or little about ourselves, our roles and gifts took place throughout the day.
Also covered was looking at how the Church as evolved. What’s happening now and how our ministry in family groups can respond.
The day was back to basics and can be taken back to use within each of our family groups to continue building relationships.
Some responses to: How do we do ministry?: to be a friendly face and talk and really listen to others, recognize gifts in others and encourage them to use them, have some structure, remembering there is a season for everything, prayer and listening so important, being called in a new way transforming the church, supporting one another….recognising it is hard to leave a community of love – love is the attraction that people will want to belong.
