Christchurch Formation Weekend – 3 March 2012
This year the day was facilitated by Fr. Brian Traynor at the St Gregory’s Parish Centre and we were thrilled to have our National Director Lynn Hill with us for the weekend.
It was a fantastic day and we were given plenty of encouragement to continue with the work we do. One of the enlightening documents that Fr. Brian took us through was “Why the Passionist in Passionist Family Groups” This gave us all a deeper understanding of who the Passionist Order are and what they are trying to achieve. Another area we looked at was Grief and Loss, for all of us here in Christchurch it gave us time to reflect and understand how grief and loss affect us all. The final stage is the stage of ACCEPTANCE. This is not ‘giving up’, but rather ‘giving in’ or ‘letting go’.
These days are of enormous benefit to us all. We can share our stories, we enjoy catching up and it gives a good chance to recharge our batteries.
Jan and Kevin Whitburn were thanked for their role as Regional Co-ordinators and they will continue in their role of Parish Co-ordinators at Our Lady of Assumption Hoon Hay. Pamela & Bob Arthurs are the current Christchurch Diocesian Regional Coordinators. Judith & Jim Henry were introduced as co-parish co-ordinators at St Peters Beckenham. Sadly Jim passed away in early May.
