St. Patrick used the shamrock (or three-leafed clover) in Ireland to teach about God as the Holy Trinity. The Trinity: God is one substance with three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Here is the Christian meaning of the shamrock symbol: Three Leaves = God is Three Persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) One Stem = God is One Substance The shamrock is sometimes depicted with heart-shaped leaves to show that God is love. God is the love that is shared between each person of the Trinity. That love is poured out to the whole world. When you see the shamrock remember the spiritual meaning of the symbol:

It has been said that the gift of an intellectual is the ability to understand the complications and hidden intricacies but when communicating these to the general public to have the mind and heart; to explain in a way that makes sense and breeds understanding, due to its simplicity. Perhaps this is a lesson from the great St Patrick. To understand the mystery of the Trinity and feel comfortable, to ‘be’, with it. Less words and more actions. If God’s source, is love then, it is upon each of us to enter the world as if, we too, have been sent by Jesus. “Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always;” (Mt 28)
Our church and communities would flourish if we were more open to God, his spirit and the example of Jesus. The path has been laid out and many have walked it in the footsteps of Jesus – offering hope, justice, compassion, forgiveness and mercy. All this is done with, in and through love. As difficult as this may be it is the way to living a life of meaning bringing others to Jesus and being servants who know what we are called to do and be. Let us seal ourselves in the sign of the Cross believing Gods wholeness breaking himself to show us how to live and love.

Scripture Reflection: Feast of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday Year B 26th May 2024.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
God our Father, who by sending into the world the Word of truth and the Spirit of sanctification made known to the human race your wondrous mystery, grant us, we pray, that in professing the true faith, we may acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory and adore your Unity, powerful in majesty.

As always on this first Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. This is the central mystery of our faith – our God, one in three persons, in whose name we were all welcomed at our baptism.
In the First Reading Moses reminds the people of everything God has done for them in releasing them from slavery in Egypt. All they – and we– are asked in return for the prosperity and eternal life that God offers, is that we obey the commandments. In a similar vein, the Psalmist rejoices in the gifts God gives to all his chosen people. We are reminded particularly of the gifts of creation, protection from want and evil, and God’s faithful love.
In the Second Reading, St Paul speaks of the Spirit which makes us all children of God. Through this gift of the Spirit, we, like Jesus, can call God our Father, and share in his glory. In the Gospel we see the risen Jesus handing on to the disciples their mission of baptising people throughout the world in the name of the Trinity. He reminds them, and ourselves, that he remains with us always.
This week, we pray that filled with God’s Spirit, we will be ready to share the Trinity’s message of love with the people we meet.
Travel, meetings and catch ups this coming week: Due to Clare’s Hip Operation being cancelled and now rescheduled for Wednesday June the 5th I decided to have a road trip before I am chief cook, cleaner and bottle washer.
I’ll travel on Thursday 23rd to meet with Hawkes Bay PFG’s then catch up with Robyn Burns; Then it will be off to catch up with Waihi/Katikati/Paeroa PFG’s before heading to Cambridge and then Hamilton. Then it will be a visit to Pukekohe PFG and then onto meeting with St Hellier’s/Howick/Pt Chev and then onto Orewa and then possibly East Coast Bays and Helensville and then back home on Tuesday 28 May.

Dr Anne Perera has been a consultant for Hubbard’s, Kiwi Cooperative Dairies, Hansells, Cerebos Greggs, Dilmah and Weight Watchers. She co-wrote two books on nutrition. She chaired the Central Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology. She was the New Zealand Crop and Food Research Institute’s Team Leader in Nutrition and Health. She was a member of the New Zealand Food Standards Committee and the Editor of the New Zealand Nutrition Foundation. She has been a Food and Nutrition Advisor to Small Industries Development Organisation in Tanzania. Dr Perera provided counselling through the Prisoners’ Aid Rehabilitation programme and is a member of several Parish Councils.
