Otago & Southland Formation Weekend – Queenstown 21-23 May 2004

Family group members from throughout the Otago and Southland region came together in picturesque Queenstown for their annual formation weekend. Facilitated by the South Island resource person for the Family Group movement, Paul Trainor from Christchurch, it was a fantastic weekend with around eighty adults and children participating. Fr Brian Docherty (Invercargill), Fr Martin Flannery (Queenstown), and Brother Sheppard (Dunedin) also attended.

The gathering was held at the Lakeland Christian Camp with the theme for the weekend being based around ‘The Towel & Basin’ and involved discussions, presentations, and children’s activities. Some impromptu performances from the children on the Saturday evening were a particular highlight! It was a wonderfully spiritual experience for all who attended and concluded with a special mass on the Sunday. A huge thank you to all who traveled so far to participate and those who helped organize the weekend – especially the camp mother John Henderson!
