Otago & Southland Formation Weekend – Waihola 1-2 April 2006
Family group members from throughout the Otago and Southland region came together at the beautifully tranquil, sun drenched Waihola Christian Youth Camp for their annual formation weekend. The camp was facilitated by Fr Brian Traynor CP, with Southern Regional directors Murray & Aileen Straight from Christchurch also in attendance. The theme for the weekend was based around the analogy of a silver box wrapped in a bow used to represent the message of speaking ‘nicely’ to people and offering words of encouragement “…as if you were offering that person a present in a silver box wrapped in a bow.”
A particular highlight for those in attendance was the movie night on Saturday evening where ‘The Sound of Music’ movie was shown and family group members, young & old alike, got in on the act by dressing up as some of the characters from the movie and singing along with all the classic tunes of the musical. A hilarious night’s fun that will be remembered for many years to come we’re sure!
A huge thank you to all who traveled from Invercargill, Queenstown, and Dunedin parishes for the weekend and to those who helped organize the event – especially the regional coordinator team of Terry & Mike Prince and Hilary & John Henderson. |
