Kapiti Area Formation Day 23 April & Wellington Region Coordinators Weekend 24 & 25 April
Kapiti
This area is made up from the parishes of Waikanae, Paraparaumu, Otaki and Levin. Once again, we gathered around 11.00am in the foyer of Our Lady of Fatima in Waikanae. Fr Brian began with “The Ordinary Miracle” and invited us all to consider what is good and wonderful in our world, our lives and our family groups. There were numerous discussion groups sharing stories of what was good in our family, our lives and our family groups. Part way through there was a shared lunch for the 56 participants.
Wellington Region Co-ordinators Weekend
The weekend was held at the Magnificat Community which is a few kilometers south of Featherston in the Wairarapa. The venue provided an excellent atmosphere for our weekend that was attended by 28 participants.
Fr Brian led the weekend which focused upon our leadership roles and to celebrate what is good. The discussions considered Jesus as a leader and the similarities of ourselves as leaders and what we felt were the important attributes of the role as leaders. We participated in a few workshops where we talked about occasions where we had exhibited leadership in our lives and what was the result. This led into assembling a list of the gifts of leadership, a job description of the Parish Co-ordinators role and how we could better promote PFG in the parishes.
The Dewitt Jones DVD gave an excellent insight into what is wonderful and good in our world and we are only limited by how we see things. The world is to be marveled so why waste time on negativity.
Tori Prendergast gave us a young person’s perspective of leadership and how the younger generation see PFG participation in their lives.
The Michael Pervin painting was present at the weekend as this is the first time in the Wellington Diocese with Lower Hutt celebrating their 20 years in June/July.
Fr Brian led mass on the Sunday in the Magnificat Community Chapel and this concluded our weekend which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
